Fourier Extrapolator Indicator
Fourier Extrapolator: Forecasting Future Prices with the Fourier Method
Description: The Fourier Extrapolator is a dynamic forecasting tool based on Fourier transforms. This indicator projects future price movements by consistently calculating Fourier waves. It falls under the category of "outrunning" indicators, displaying a line on the right side of the chart (default: green) to show the predicted future price movement. By default, the Fourier Extrapolator is configured for scalping. The underlying hypothesis for this indicator is:
If there are three waves with the same period consecutively, there is a high probability of the occurrence of a fourth wave.
Key Features of Fourier Extrapolator Indicator
Platform: Metatrader4
Currency pairs: All pairs
Trading Time: Intraday
Time-frame: Any
The calculation algorithm:
Built window series in which the right edge of the fixed (parameter «shift»), and the left edge of the consistently reduced (parameter «T») with a period of 1 bar
- The amplitude spectrum indications are made in each window
- If a clearly formed harmonic number 3 is identified, it is extended for a period of 1 into the future
For a more accurate prediction, all identified harmonics are summed
- The indicator is calculated only when added to the graph and is protected from new ticks and bars
- A larger launch window ("T" setting) results in more accurate predictions but takes longer to calculate
Fourier Extrapolator Settings:
T - size of a window, to start the search
Shift - shift relative to the forecast of zero bar to display the historical forecasts on the graph
ShowProfit - play balance dynamics for an imaginary trade by forecast
Alert - show periods of harmonics (sounds an alarm), which form the forecast (default: false)
Increasing the "T" parameter to a few thousand makes the Fourier Extrapolator's readings more accurate but significantly increases the calculation time compared to the default (1000). To evaluate the indicator on historical data, change the "shift" setting to any positive number other than zero, but note that the "projected" indicator properties will disappear in this case.
The Fourier Extrapolator is multi-currency (suitable for any currency pair). While it is designed for scalping (M1, M5), it can also be used for intraday trading. However, this indicator is not suitable for medium and long-term trading as it requires constant market monitoring.
